We wouldn’t have newsletter if peace were not a thing. We know it is. But knowing that, are we giving this thing called peace enough space?
When are we opening the door to peace? Is it during the day? Most human activity is within the framework of business - that is to say activity performed under the auspices of an organisation, with an official organisation number, tax number and often licences and stakeholders. In other words, we work.
It seems to us that in all that flurry of business activity, peace is missing. It shouldn’t be. If the business of life is peace, and we believe it is, then the business of business is peace.
That raises the questions:
How can you make the business of your life to be peace?
How can you make the business of your business to be peace?
This newsletter is not going to tell you how to run your business - we are not qualified to do that. What we are going to tell you is about what we have learned over the years. Both of the authors started to pursue peace in the 1970s and are retired. We never stopped pursuing peace. But we both had careers in business.
Reflecting back, we have one simple message: it is time to let peace in. Into your personal life first, and into that motor of production and distribution we call business.
We are going to offer up the simple suggestion that if you find peace in yourself, and let that guide you, and practice peace in your professional and personal life, you will be fulfilled - far beyond what any of your successes in business bring. If others do the same we might just have a new world. Peace is a thing, it is amazing. It works just fine and it’s meant to. It’s built in, and comes as standard in a human being.
There is a lot wrong with the world, there will always be. So instead of trying to put everything right first, start by aiming for peace. Peace gives you the best possible beacon to follow. If you can find peace, if you can manifest that in the world, if others do the same, things might just start to feel perfect. That’s what peace does, it is a feeling with you in your day.
With that understanding, putting peace at the heart of the mission of our extraction, production and distribution systems we can navigate our way through times that might just be proving to be the most challenging to the human race ever.
This newsletter gathers all we can find about how to do that, starting with yourself, and going on to highlight amazing things that we have seen happen when the practice of peace starts to become - practical. We have a lot of ideas about how we humans can change direction. We call it the pivot. The change from how we have, perhaps unconsciously, set things up for non-peace, to setting things up for peace.
As we say in the book we are planning, to make it right.
We may always never quite get it right, but by focussing on making it right we can open up to having lives that are wonderful beyond our imaginations. Lives in peace. Because peace is a thing, our thing; that is who we are. Time to let it work. Time to be who we are.
